Cancellations
Before you leave Germany, you should ensure that all existing agreements / contracts have been cancelled.
We provide an overview of the most common agreements and indicate the dates of cancellation. If you have any other agreements pls. gather the relevant information in advance about cancellation periods and requirements.
Mobile phones
Usually mobile phone contracts are valid for 24 months and do not include the option of early cancellation. In exceptional cases the cancellation can be successful, if the total amount of the monthly service rate is paid.
Telekom (direct line phones)
The Telekom direct line packages have to be cancelled 6 working days prior to your leaving. The cancellation will be confirmed at the end of one working day, but the cancellation period is 6 working days.
Only the T-online-tariff, the internet package of T-Com, has a contract period of 12 months.

GEZ (Radio / TV license)
You can inform the GEZ at any time that you wish to terminate your radio or TV contract at the end of that month. When that months’ fee is paid, no further payments will be requested.
STAWAG (Strom)
Before you return to your home country, we advice you to pay a visit to the STAWAG office in order to settle the balance of the final invoice. You should make an appointment for your visit.
Accommodation (lease agreement)
Your lease agreement includes information about the cancellation period. Usually the period is 3 months.
The cancellation period for the housing estates is 6 weeks and has to be given in writing by the 15th of each month to become valid at the end of the following month.
The cancellation period changed for agreements dated on 01.09.2003 or later. The new cancellation period is 2 months and cancellation is possible at the end of each month.

Bank Account
Pls. contact your bank in advance about cancellation of your account and enquire whether you have to do this in person or if you can arrange the cancellation from abroad.
