Financial Statements

A financial statement is required when you first apply for a visa to study in Germany. This proof can be shown in different ways.

• Pledge card
  The pledge card guarantees to cover most of the expenses (incl. the daily living) of another person, who is staying in Germany. In this case relatives might provide financial support for the student during his stay in Germany.
  The pledge card has to be submitted to the German embassy of the country where the financial 'sponsor' lives.
  

• Blocked account
  The blocked account can be set up in Germany. The  account has a blocking note which allows you  to draw a maximum of 585 € from the account. In addition there should be a minimum balance of 1.500 € .

• Account statements
  If the account statements of the previous three to four months indicate that the regular income was above 500 € per month, it could also be considered as a financial statement.
