ANNA from POLAND

My name is Anna. I am 25 years old and come from Poland. I have graduated in German Language Studies. Here in Aachen I am taking a course in European Studies (postgraduate). At the beginning of my studies I was working part-time in a pub to cover my expenses. Meanwhile I was lucky enough to get financial support because I was granted a scholarship.
My decision to study in Germany was driven by my wanting to combine real cases of European integration and further develop my language skills.
I feel very comfortable in Germany, but I believe a foreigner will always be a foreigner.
For example, German people make me feel from time to time to be a 'burden' on society, because I occupy a job position that a German could fill. And in addition it is not so easy to meet German students. Even in the student residence building it was easier for me to become friends with other foreign students.
To all Polish students in Aachen, who would like to taste 'the real home', I highly recommend the Polish restaurant Polonia, where they can enjoy several Polish meals. And even if Germany is associated with delicious sausages, the Polish sausages will always be the best in the world!
