ENAS from PALESTINE

I have lived in Germany since 1999. In my home country, Palestine, I graduated in biology and was working as a teacher. In order to create new opportunities I went abroad – at the RWTH I have chosen Environmental Studies (postgraduate) in order to achieve a doctoral degree. Currently I work as a scientific assistant.
At the beginning of my studying in Germany I got the impression that the Germans are not really an easy-going nation. I received little support, unless I directly asked for it. My point of view: the Germans are a bit slow, if not reluctant to initiate new contacts.
I enjoy the freedom and the options gained by living in Germany, especially going out (pubs, cinema, theatre and sports). Nevertheless I still consider going back to Palestine, because I do not feel at home, or as if I can be my real self in Germany. And the longer I stay here the stronger my fear becomes of losing my people/friends and my home in Palestine.
