University fees

Currently the first studies in Germany are free of charge. At the start of their studies every student gets a study account with a semester deposit. Aquivalent to the 1.5 factor of the regular study time the deposit would be for 15 semesters of studying free of charge, if the officially defined regular study time would be for 10 semesters.  For every additional semester a study fee of 500,00 € will be charged.

The only contribution during the free-of-charge period is the social activities fee of 148,50 € per semester. This amount is not related to the fee for studies. The social contribution of 10,75 € supports ASTA, University sport courses, Student representatives, Day Care of RWTH, University radio and the student relief funds as well as 81,75 € for the Semesterticket (Internal Link Bus, Train and Car). The second major part is the social contribution of 56,00 € for the Studentenwerk Aachen. Through this co-financing contribution we can provide social services to all students such as economic housing, child care and special menu prices in the cafeterias.
