Daycare Centre 'Piccolino', Melatener Street
Focussing on your studies and taking care of your children at the same time could be a heavy load. The day-care centre 'Piccolino' provides child care services to student parents since 1971.
22 children of different nationalities (age range: 6 months to 3 years) are playing in three groups.
A qualified team - one social pedagogue, two accredited childhood educators, two child carers and one pediatric nurse - takes care of the children in the former RWTH guest house pavillon.
The pedagogical concept is based on the following::
- creation of a friendly and relaxed atmosphere
- support of parental education
- possiblilities for the kids to move freely (especially in the large garden)
- guidance to autonomy and own initiative
- foster self-confidence and assertiveness
- learn a daily schedule
- support the articulateness
- space for spontaneity and phantasy
From Monday to Thursday 7:30 - 16:15 o'clock and Friday 7:30 15:45 o'clock.
The day in the nursery starts at 7:30 for the early birds. The parents can bring the children between 7:30 and 9:30 o'clock. The first activity is playtime in the groups, starting around 9:30. Afterwards the children enjoy the fruit breakfast (prepared by the parents in advance) and the milk.
Many activities will be offered depending on season and weather: Outside or in the group rooms.
11:30 is lunch time: the youngsters eat home-prepared food while the majority receives a tailor-made lunch service (from Turmstrasse cusine). The relaxation period takes place after lunch between 12:30 and 14.00. After some refreshments (dessert and milk) the afternoon provides plenty of activities like garden discovery or creative handicraft ideas.
Are you interested? Do not hesitate and contact Maria Scheffen, the responsible daycare centre manager of Piccolino, between 8:30 and 9:30 o'clock in order to make an appointment.
Welcome to the children and their parents!
