With a turnover of 14 mio. EUR the Studentenwerk has the economic and organizational responsibility for student restaurant, cafeterias, eventmanagement, catering service, housing estates, financing of studies (BAföG) and child care.

The Studentenwerk has four sources of income in order to fulfill the numerous tasks and duties: 63% comes from our own turnover, the federal state Nordrhein-Westfalen provides 17% (fixed ratio since 1994). The small portion of 15% comes from the social student contribution (56 Euro per student as a semester admission fee) and finally 5% is a financial contribution from the federal state for the BAföG service unit.
